Medicare
The Medicare Allied Health Initiative for Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Items (previously known as Enhanced Primary Care – EPC plans) can provide up to 5 Medicare rebated speech pathology treatments per calendar year. Consult with your GP regarding eligibility for referral under this program.
We are registered Medicare providers and can provide therapy under two programs:
A Chronic Disease Management Plan - this is organised by your GP and provides rebates for up to 5 sessions per calendar year.
Helping Children with Autism package - this is a plan provided by your Paediatrician which provides funding towards a total of 4 sessions for Allied Health assessment for diagnosis and up to 20 sessions of therapy with Allied Health.
For children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, a total of 20 therapy sessions can be allocated, including Speech Pathology, until the child turns 15 years of age provided the diagnosis has been made before the child’s 13th birthday.

NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme may be able to provide funding support. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government healthcare scheme designed to provide funding to people with developmental delay or a permanent disability.

Private Health Funds
.Speech Pathology services can be rebated under ancillary tables of private health funds.
You will need to consult with your insurance provider to check your cover, determine the rebate amount, and the maximum amount you can claim per person or family in a calendar year.
Cancellation Policy:
We are pleased you have chosen Communiskills for your Speech Pathology service provider but there is some important information you need to know regarding our booking and cancellation policy .
To assist us to provide a high quality service, it is important that you are aware of and understand that we are unable to keep appointments for clients who do not give adequate notice of cancellation of their appointments as we have a large number of people wanting to attend our services.
We understand that the unavoidable happens at times - people get sick, parents have to work at short notice etc, but cancellations and “non-attendances” affect our ability to offer a quality service and does affect your child’s progress.
Notification of any cancellation must be received at least 24 hours before your appointment otherwise a cancellation fee of 100% will apply if the appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours prior to appointment.
A 100% cancellation fee will apply for ALL non-attendances without notice, for any reason.
Notification must be made by phone Call Reception on 03 8820 8083 - if the phone is unattended, you must leave a message on our voicemail. Or you can use the link in your email or text appointment reminder to cancel your appointment. We are unable to accept notification of cancellations by direct email.
A reminder text will be sent out two days prior to any appointment scheduled at Communiskills.
Please note there are no Medicare or Private Health rebates available for cancellation fees.
